A Banquet is a Sunless Skies Random Event.
Story description[]
As you enter the dining hall, your companions roar with approval and make way for you to sit. The vittles more than meet expectations – ox tongues, stuffed capons, stewed eels.
A servant prepares to light candles, but you wave him off. The moonlight filtering through the window is more than bright enough.
This is a grand occasion, and for good reason. You are about to announce the beginning of your quest.
Trigger conditions[]

Area: Limbo

Speak with the Valiant Equestrian
You couldn't ask for a braver knight, though you frequently feel sorry for their horse.
The Valiant Equestrian
You congratulate the Equestrian on their success in their most recent joust. Perhaps one day they'll find the poor fellow's arm.
Speak with the Cavalier Chevalier
Dashingly handsome, ambiguously loyal! Among all your knights, the Chevalier is the favourite subject of the bards.
The Cavalier Chevalier
The Chevalier will never be the knight of the purest heart, but you believe in his efforts to better himself. You command him to join you in a quick but solemn prayer, much to his chagrin.
Speak with the Sour Bannerman
Poor fellow, he's not been the same since the loss of his estate.
The Sour Bannerman
You clap the Bannerman on the back and order him to buck up. The day is not ended yet! Together you'll slay his enemies and reclaim his estate! He politely asks if you've gone mad.
Speak with the Incognito Princess
She's not precisely in disguise and you're not sure to which throne she's heir, but she certainly acts like she owns the place.
The Incognito Princess
You bow before the Princess and swear a solemn oath to die protecting her if necessary.
"Well, I'm finally getting the respect I deserve," she says, though she sounds oddly disappointed.
Speak with the Blessed Paladin
You couldn't ask for a more noble and committed knight! He has a hundred successful quests to his name, and still he seeks out more!
The Blessed Paladin
You ask the Paladin to recount the stories of his most recent feats. His battles against the Ogre of the North! His forays into the lands of evil with just thirty companions, mounted atop his marvellous steed! His conquests of the Eighteen Great Castles!
He seems uncharacteristically reticent, but just remembering his exploits brings you joy.
Speak with the Extremely Small Squires
Where would you be without a cadre of youthful knights-in-training? Shame they chew on the furniture, but we were all young once.
The Extremely Small Squires
The Squires really are remarkably, remarkably small. You stare at them for a moment. One of them waves a very small hand indeed. Odd.
You order them to run along and attend to the horses. They cheerfully ask: "What horses?" Perhaps it's time you sought out new squires. These ones are broken.
Discuss the matter of the Quest
Enough pleasantries. Down to business.
The Quest Begins!
Of course, you tell your companions, you will face trials as you seek the Martyr-King's Cup. But you command the finest band of knights ever assembled. They cheer.
You rise to your feet, brandishing your sword. In the name of Albion and the Day That Was Lost, you vow that you will find the Cup. You plunge your blade into the table... You expect another cheer, but are greeted only by a nervous cough. Looking up, you see the baffled, familiar faces of your officers. You are not holding a sword, but a butter-knife. It has been slammed a good four inches into the oak.
