A Dance with the Presumptuous Heiress is a Sunless Skies Story Event.
Story description[]
The Presumptuous Heiress is everything you expected in a dance partner: demanding, joyful, and a touch too exuberant for propriety. Her attention is only partially on you, and only very peripherally on the steps of the dance: instead, she waves at friends across the ballroom and whispers snatches of conversation as they pass close by. Between mincing steps interspersed with quick turns in double time, you manage to ask your questions.

Lackwitted in the extreme
For all her frivolity, the Presumptuous Heiress can summon a thunderous frown when the moment demands it. "Leave without my poor, luckless sister? I've never heard such base cowardice!" She continues for some time, casting imprecations on her mother, her plan and your own involvement. "...the idea is lackwitted in the extreme, even for mama. I would rather rot here." She plucks a crudité from a passing silver platter and looks for a servant to refill her champagne.
As expected: a complication. The Macabre Counsellor told you she has an agent in position at Perdurance to assist you. You'd better find them and seek advice.

| Expose the Fuliginous Forewoman's secret
The Heiress might be willing to persuade the Luckless Sister to leave with you, if she believes her sister is in danger.

Sporish tricks
You tell her about the Forewoman's condition, downplaying her reluctance to colonise the Luckless Sister and exaggerating her fungal features. You hint darkly as to her motives, her almost mesmeric effect, the fungus' hunger for ripe new flesh. The Presumptuous Heiress is not gullible, but she is protective. Her eyes grow wider and her expression more concerned with every word.
In the end she thanks you heartily, and agrees that the only safe course of action is to smuggle the Luckless Sister out in her place. You tell her to bring her sister to the Clairvoyant Doctress, when next you return.
