Actions Requirements Effects Notes
Ask the Lecturer in Imperial Affairs to be your Patron
The serious, studious, London-appointed astronomer. She will require a gift, however.
A new patron
She takes you for tea on the veranda under the dome. She likes her tea steeped for so long you could sluice drains with it. She listens to your gossip with abject glee, and quickly pockets your documentation. "Thank you. I'll keep this in mind next time I'm in London. Now, as for our studies. You'll need Ministry permission, but once you have a permit, we'll be able to use the telescope."
Ask the Chair in the Effulgent Sciences to be your Patron
The wild-eyed, undisciplined, brilliantly unorthodox astronomer. She will require a gift, however.
A new patron
She agrees to meet you in her cluttered, chaotic office, where the windows are each stained in the colours of a different star.

She pockets your curiosity, and listens hungrily to your story, interrupting throughout to clarify this or that seemingly trivial detail. As you finish, she begins to laugh. "I'm sorry, captain. I think you've brought me the equivalent of a celestial salt cellar."

"Now, we may start when you wish. Bring me a ministry permit, and we may look through the telescope."
Ask the Senatorial Professor Hill to be your Patron
The ancient, sightless, cantankerous astronomer from Old London. He will require a gift, however.
A new patron
He eventually agrees to a meeting in his library, where the windows are blacked out and not a single candle burns. He sits himself in his armchair and listens to you stumble about in the dark. He strips off his blindfold, and winds your cloth around his eyes instead. "That's better. Was getting solar interference. Something was watching me. Now, patronage. Well, you bring me a permit from the Ministry, and we can have a gander through the telescope."
