Interactions[]

Actions Requirements Effects Notes
Scrub your cabin clean
Quick, before anyone sees.

Game note: Reduce your Terror by 50, but increase your Nightmares.

Caught
You're on your hands and knees, scraping with a sponge at the sud-soaked floor, when the door bursts open. You look up to see the shocked face of your boilerman, staring in wonder at the eye-smattered ceiling. Though you explain the situation as best you can, the crewman gives you a distinctly skeptical look. Does he believe you're to blame for this?
Attempt to decipher the pattern
The more you look, the more you see a deliberation in the placement of eyes.
Failed event Advanced alteration value probably needs examination.

A hidden symbol
You retrieve a new stick of chalk and begin drawing lines between the largest eyes, connecting them from floor to wall to ceiling. When you stand back, you find yourself faced with a hideous jumble of lines. The pattern is lost. Somewhere along the way you got it maddeningly wrong.
Successful event
A hidden symbol
You find a new stick of chalk and begin drawing lines between the largest eyes, connecting them from floor to wall to ceiling. When you stand back you find yourself faced with an enormous jagged sigil whose meaning you cannot begin to fathom. Even when you close your eyes, it blazes in your mind.
Search for the culprit
You'll get to the bottom of this, even if you have to interrogate your crew one by one.
Accusations
You line up the suspects, by which you mean your entire crew, and call them into your quarters one by one.

Their reaction to your eye-smattered walls is uniform – bewilderment, a hint of horror. Their reaction to your interrogation is similarly identical – aggrieved protestations of innocence.

One of them is deceiving you, but you cannot know who. You're forced to let the matter lie, with the atmosphere on the engine newly tense.
