Story description[]
The stars are sharply gleaming peepholes in the sky. Behind them, a galaxy of eyes, trained ruthlessly on you, tracking your every blink, every breath, every microscopic secretion of your pores.

It's no use. Your corneas are burning, and you can't watch them all at once. You sink to the floor, gasping and trembling under the weight of their scrutiny.

Their stares are smouldering on your skin like cigarette burns.

A prayer for privacy
Your sobbing pleas echo through the train, waking your crew. The stars do not listen; your crew do.
Breakfast is a subdued and awkward affair. An engineer mentions, a little too casually, that she's thinking of leaving for "pastures new" at the next port.

The next day, you are meticulously casual. You greet your crew with carefully-measured cheeriness. You respond to their jokes with boisterous faux-laughter. Even when you are alone, you smile until your face aches.
The crew seem a little uneasy. Perhaps they can sense the stars' scrutiny too?
