A Visitation: an Innocuous Request is a Sunless Skies Random Event.

Story description[]

Some time ago, you had to remove a bristle-moustached corpse from the front of your engine. Now, the corpse is back. It is knocking politely on the exterior hatch and asking if it can come in.

Not for long, you understand. Just to warm up. It's chilly out.

Actions Requirements Effects Notes
Permit it
It is, indeed, chilly out.

Game note: You will lose Fuel.

Inside
You open the hatch, and the corpse thanks you as it enters. Its knees crackle and pop as it takes a seat in the passage. As it warms its icicle fingers on a steam-pipe, it makes deliberate small-talk. It complains about the weather. It compliments your locomotive. After a few minutes it stands, thanks you for your kindness and shakes your hand. How cold it still is! An icy gust blows in as it opens the exterior hatch and steps out. Brr. Stoker! More fuel to the engines!
Absolutely not!
Strict standards must be maintained by all crew. Breathing, for one.

Game note: You will gain Terror.

A firm stance
The corpse quite understands. Although... could it possibly borrow a scarf?
No it cannot
Go away!
The corpse stops knocking. You decide not to mention it to the crew. It would only upset them. Perhaps it's still out there, clinging to the hull.
Lend it your scarf
It was a gift from your Aunt.
That seems to satisfy the corpse for now. It stops knocking. You spend some time telling the crew not to let it in. It'd be just like one of them to take pity on the creature. Why are they staring at you?
Borrow a scarf from one of the crew
It is woolly and warm. The crewman looks mystified, but does not object.
That satisfies the corpse, for now. You tell the crew not to let it in. It'd be just like one of them to take pity on the creature. As you leave, you hear one of them whisper "—threw my scarf out of the hatch!" Civility is lost on these people.
