Etymology

Altani is the name of a Mongol heroine. Having saved Genghis Khan's youngest son Tolui from a treacherous Tatar, the Khan recognized her bravery in saving his son and adopted her as his daughter, eventually ensuring her equal marriage to his adopted brother Borokhul (who had also saved one of Genghis Khan's sons).
