Actions Requirements Effects Notes
Tell her you have the three flames of the Logoi
You subdued three of the Blue Kingdom's greatest enforcers, and stole their smouldering essence.
Perilously close
"Excellent." Her cut-glass voice echoes down the corridor, but your crew never seem to hear her. "We must now travel to the Shadow of the Sun and break into the Arbiter's vault. The Cup is within our grasp, my knight."
Ask about the Golden Day
The Queen mentioned that the original purpose of the Minute to Midnight was to destroy the Golden Day. What did she mean?
The Golden Day
"The day that lasted a thousand years." Her voice is bitter. "How I hated it. What use am I, during an endless day? Where is my light to shine? Even before I was unmade, I was unseen. "Blame my father's arrogance. He couldn't bear to conceal his light, even for a moment. The people loved it, of course, because they did not age. When he died, of course, time caught up with them, and they became less than dust."
Ask about the King of Hours
Suns, it seems, can be murdered. Suns can suffer.
The Martyr-King
"The King of Hours was betrayed and murdered by the Blue Kingdom. But he discovered a way to persist." Her voice is brittle. "I always wondered why I was born. Apparently, I was a contingency.

"As he died, he stole the moment of my birth and used it to preserve the moment of his death. Now he is forever dying, forever in torment, but never dead. A shadow.

"And what does that make me? He erased me. He stole my existence to preserve his own. I am not even the shadow of a shadow. But I will claw my way back."
Ask her about the Cup
You found it. What now? You won't be able to drink from it if it's hidden within a faded portrait.
The Queen's schemes
"Earning immortality from the Cup is not as easy as drinking from it." The Queen pauses. "This Cup holds the moment of my father's death and the final gasps of a dying realm, after all.

"Immortality requires a complex ritual. We must take the Cup before the Storm That Speaks and recite the poisoned words that killed my father. Those words were banished from all language, but there is a way I can recover them.

"With my moonlight, I can force a quester to relive my father's last moments. It kills them, of course. I don't suppose you'll volunteer, but perhaps you know someone who will?"
Introduce the Unseen Queen to the Dismal Chamberlain
You lead the Chamberlain to the portrait that hangs outside your quarters. He gasps when he sees the Cup in her hand.
The Chamberlain and the Queen
"We've met," says the Queen. "When last we spoke, he pledged his fealty to me."

The Chamberlain bows stiffly before her. "That oath still rings true, Your Majesty."

"And you are ready to die?"

"As I'll ever be, Your Majesty."

"Then the time draws near." The Queen turns her attention to you. "Take us to the Storm That Speaks, and we will begin the ritual."

Game note: The Storm That Speaks is reliably found near the Mausoleum, by the corpse of Albion's Sun.

Introduce the Unseen Queen to Isery
You support the hobbling Isery as they make their way to the portrait that hangs outside your quarters. They gasp when they see the Cup.
    • Isery ≥ 1 [Isery has boarded your engine.]

    • Ambition: The Martyr-King's Cup = 21 [Hunt down either the Dismal Chamberlain (last seen in Brabazon) or the Final Champion (last seen in London)]

    • Pursuing: Isery ≥ 4 [[COMPLETE]Isery will accompany you to relive the King's final hours]

Isery and the Queen
"We've met," says the Queen. "Isery is, after all, my second-greatest knight."

The bald quester smiles crookedly. "I'm not sure I like the prize for second place, Your Majesty."

"Are you ready to die?"

"I am. At least, if the alternative is to give up and never see this story to its end."

"Then the time draws near." The Queen turns her attention to you. "Take us to the Storm That Speaks, and we will begin the ritual."

Game note: The Storm That Speaks is reliably found near the Mausoleum, by the corpse of Albion's Sun.

    • Pursuing: Isery = 5 [[COMPLETE]Isery will accompany you to relive the King's final hours]

    • Ambition: The Martyr-King's Cup = 22 [You must travel to the Storm That Speaks and have a dying quester speak the words that killed him. The Storm That Speaks is reliably found near the Mausoleum, by the corpse of Albion's Sun]

    • +2000 x Experience

Leave her be
As you walk down the corridor, you're sure you can hear the distant sound of a herald's bugle.
Worried looks
When you return to the mess hall, you find your crew staring at you with something like concern in their eyes. Have they never seen someone converse with a portrait before?
