Story description[]
This time your preparations to meet the Sun's Daughter are half-baked. Your tongue is a wisp of smoke; Correspondence symbols flicker weakly across your skin. Her radiance sears you with a terrible, bone-deep pain. "I told you the consequences would be severe," she says, and her every word is a spear that impales. "Your crew will be slain. And you will suffer."

The Arbiter's curse
Under her gaze your skin cracks and crumbles. Worms twine themselves through your flesh. When you return you have been transformed into a crawling clod of infested soil.
You slither to the Furrows, inch by decaying inch, and burrow. You linger for a month in the ground, every moment a torture. After a week, a skeletal arm emerges from the toxic earth. Then a skeleton; it gradually develops muscles, blood vessels, flesh... Finally, a version of you has grown that is healed and new. You return to the near-empty engine. Your one surviving crewmember cannot (or will not) relay what happened to the rest.
