Root[]

[1] Its skin is beginning to peel with flakes the colour of fresh salt.
[2] Wherever your gaze falls, the shade's substance begins to desiccate, turning into coarse salt. Already its movements have begun to stiffen.
[3] Much of the shade's substance has stiffened to salt, now. One entire hand is an inert, glistening block of it. It will not survive further encroachment.
[4] The shade has passed the point of no return, now. Its transformation into salt accelerates, consuming the last of its substance."

[1] You notice a faint discolouration spreading around the shade's neck and shoulders: a mottle of salty white.
[2] In places the shade's skin is hardening to a glistening white crust, like salt. The contagion worsens the more you examine it, as if the very act of perceiving it was fueling its spread.
[3] The salt-contagion now covers most of the shade's substance. Some of its extremities are solid chunks of salt, like a sculptor's most delicate work. Any further encroachment will lead to its destruction.
[4] The spirit's calcification has progressed too far, now. Its salt-flesh crumbles as you watch.
