Actions | Requirements | Effects | Notes | ||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Attempt to address the shortfall by yourself
Alone, you will only be able to deal with one symptom of the crisis.
Game note: You will only be able to prevent one thing from worsening. |
|
The Devil's choice
Without supplies you'll starve. Without fuel you'll freeze. Without spare parts, your locomotive will succumb to rust and fray and wear.
Right now, you can only solve one of these problems. Which?
|
Scavenge supplies from abandoned cabins
Your departed crew had belongings, and packages from home, and occasionally plundered the galley. Maybe you can replenish your supplies by picking through their things.
|
You find enough among their silent, solemn cabins to restore your supplies to the expected level. But your fuel is still dangerously depleted, and without spare parts, your engine begins, inexorably, to break down.
|
|
Search for combustible materials
You can't afford to lose that much fuel. Hunt your engine for anything you can burn.
|
You carry anything combustible to a cabin near the engine room, and pile it on the floor. It should make up for the missing fuel.
Your supplies are still woefully depleted, though, and without spare parts it is impossible to keep your engine in a satisfactory condition.
| ||||
Cannibalise spare parts from less vital equipment
Salvage what you can to stave off the deterioration of your locomotive and keep the hull in adequate repair.
|
You plunder one half of your locomotive to feed the other. Lengths of pipe, steel plates, bolts and screws.
Your stocks of fuel and supplies are still dangerously depleted, but at least you've enough parts to maintain your engine.
| ||||
Ask the Navigator to search empty cabins for supplies
He is accustomed to the dead, and won't be afraid to search the sad, empty cabins. He should be able to ease the loss of your supplies.
Game note: While he works, you will be able to prevent another situation from worsening. |
Sharing the load
With a brisk nod, he sets to work. It's time to find out how fortunate he really is.
While he searches the unoccupied cabins, what will you do?
|
Cannibalise spare parts from less vital equipment
Salvage what you can to prevent the deterioration of your locomotive and keep the hull in adequate repair.
|
By ruthlessly stripping the galley ovens and the cargo winch to their metal bones, you accumulate enough material to continue maintaining the locomotive.
In the meantime, the Navigator has scavenged enough supplies to largely replace those lost to the clerical error. Your fuel stores are still devastated, though.

Hunt for combustible materials
You can't afford to lose that much fuel. Hunt your engine for anything you can burn.
|
You begin your respective searches at opposite ends of the locomotive. By the time you meet, you've gathered enough furniture (and a single mis-stored barrel of coal) to replace the missing fuel, and the Navigator has largely replenished your supplies.
You're still short on spare parts, though. Your locomotive suffers.

Permit the Driver to cannibalise spare parts from less vital systems
Their definition of 'less vital' is likely to be broad. But they'll find enough material to slow the deterioration of your locomotive.
Game note: While they work, you will be able to prevent another situation from worsening. |
Sharing the load
"Probably don't need this," you hear the Driver say, as they take a wrench to a tangle of pipework under the engine.
You'd better leave them to work. What will you do in the meantime?
|
Scavenge supplies from abandoned cabins
Your departed crew had belongings, and packages from home, and occasionally pilfered things from the galley. Maybe you can find enough to replenish your supplies.
|
You find enough among the silent, solemn cabins to restore your supplies.
The Driver, meanwhile, has only occasionally been overzealous, and most things they cannibalised you can live without. A locker is filled with spare parts, sensibly boxed and ordered. Your fuel stores, though, are still alarmingly depleted.
|
Advanced alteration value probably needs examination.

|
You pile everything combustible on the floor of a cabin near the engine room. It should keep you going.
The Driver, meanwhile, has only occasionally been overzealous. Most things they cannibalised you can live without. Your stores are still drastically understocked, though.
