You have rumours of Axile to trade for directions. Surely, this will tempt one of the Rubbery Men.

Desperation has a home everywhere
Your guide is an emaciated figure, badly contained in its rags, tentacles pocked with scars. It is piteously eager to be of service.
The path it chooses is convoluted, wetly brilliant, and lavish with parasites. Hours into the descent, you find the gland: livid with parasites, gleaming verdigris in the light. You give the Rubbery Man its prize, and its broken-hearted crooning accompanies the next part of your labours.

Forget the Rubbery Men. You have a crew and, more importantly, a map!

There!
Down into the pith of the house you go, down with the murmuring of your crew in tow, down into the black, the cold, the rotted, with its writhing parasites. The hours smear together as you search the site for evidence of the gland.
It is only when all humour has bled from the expedition and there is nothing but ragged breath that you find the gland, all verdigris-glow and livid with parasites.
