Actions Requirements Effects Notes
Trigger your trap, and jettison the ringleaders
You suspected it was coming. Hence the explosive charges you set in the plating along a key corridor.

Game note: Even if you succeed you will lose half your hull, some crew, and your Nightmares will worsen.

Failed event
An end
You touch two wires together, triggering a violent explosion that spins your locomotive sideways through the sky. Lamps shatter, plunging it into darkness.

But still they come. Was the mutiny more widespread than you knew? Had they learned of your trap in advance? Was your timing off? It doesn't matter now. You drag yourself up. You'll not die on your knees.

The end is a scuffle in the dark, a slithering knife, and blood.
Successful event
Them or you
You touch two wires together, and a deafening explosion tears through your locomotive, canting it to one side.

You approach the site of the detonation. The winds howl through it. The hull is a hideous blossom of mangled steel around a great, ragged hole. All that remains of the mutineers is a crimson stain and several teeth embedded in the wall.

Perhaps once, you would not have considered so desperate a solution. But needs must.
Rally the remaining crew in resistance
Will they come to your call? And if they do, will they be enough?

Game note: Even if you succeed you will lose many crew, some Supplies, and your Nightmares will worsen.

Failed event
You stand alone
They do not come. You wait for the mutineers on the bridge, damned if you'll go down without a fight. Your pistol keeps them at bay, until your run out of bullets. Then your fists punish their temerity when they try to lay hands on you. When your hands are bound, you bite. In the end, gagged and tied, you are flung out into the empty sky. Your tale is told.
Successful event
Blades in the dark
Your loyalist force meets the mutineers in the confines of the corridors. Both sides have pillaged the stores for armaments and supplies, and carry knives, cudgels, a precious pistol or two. There is murder by lamplight. A gunshot thunders. Someone falls. The floors slicken with the contents of your crew. Outside, the stars shine evenly, untroubled by the bloodshed that grips your engine. The mutiny, in the end, was brief. There is blood on your shoes. Perhaps that would have troubled you, once. Not now.
Rally your shades against the living mutineers!
The dead will fight for their captain.
Failed event

Special is calculated as follows: 75-(Served by Shades*10) * 1.67

Not even the dead
The dead do not hear your call. They have abandoned you too.

The dead walk
The mutineers do not expect the dead. Silent masked shades stalk the corridors of the engine; slaying in the quiet. Mutineers die in hushed screams, one by one. Some are flung into the heavens, to the evident enjoyment of the shades. The masked faces return, awash in crimson.

The floors are slickened with the contents of your crew. Your supplies did not escape the carnage.

Outside, the stars shine evenly, untroubled by the bloodshed that grips your engine. The mutiny, in the end, was brief. There is blood on your shoes. Perhaps that would have troubled you, once. Not now.
Be engulfed in a bloom of flame
The rattle became a clatter, the clatter a roar. It was accompanied by a hellish choir of shrieking pipes, and the boiler groaned like a dying whale.

Game note: Alone, there was nothing you can do to prevent your death.

In fire and water
The explosion, when it came, tore out the rear half of your locomotive, mangling the steel into a blossom of pipes and plating. Perhaps you would have found it striking, had you not been evaporated by the boiler rupture.
Put your faith in a Crimson Promise
Once, someone promised you a life. Now would be a good time to collect. But can they reach you, here?

Game note: Even if you succeed, you will lose some Crew, a Crimson Promise, and your Nightmares will worsen.

Failed event
Unheard
The sky is vast, and your engine is small. Help, if help exists, is far away. Either that, or the promise was a lie, and you have been betrayed. The mutineers batter down the door to the bridge. You are taken, and bound, and cast from your locomotive into the yawning sky. In the minutes before you freeze to death, you have further opportunity to appreciate its vastness.
Successful event
A settling of accounts
Perhaps you are being watched. Is one of your crew an agent of the power that is in your debt? Is there a stowaway aboard? Or are darker, less explicable methods at work here? Regardless, your plight is noticed. The mutineers never reach the bridge. Instead, they are found neatly murdered in their cabins, laid on their bunks and bearing pinpoint wounds. The debt is paid. What is that you feel? Regret? Satisfaction? Power?
