Reputations are measures of your reputation among different groups in the High Wilderness. Interacting with factions in the High Wilderness can increase or decrease your reputations. Having high amount of reputations may unlock more opportunities, while having low amount of reputations means certain opportunities are less available. Having little to none reputations can also caused the faction's agents to be hostile to you.
You can view your reputations in your Captain's 
Profile tab.
