Blood in the gears
Clambering down a crooked shaft and along an oily, sweating crawlspace, you find yourselves surrounded by pumping, turning machinery. There is barely room to squeeze between it. You hand out the tools, and try to do such damage as you can.
With an awful shudder, a cog slips. The machinery shifts, dragging your companions into the hungry gears. They are ground like sausages. You flee back to your engine in time to see the bleached light of the Clockwork Sun flicker. For an instant, darkness reigns. Will it be enough to satisfy the Whisperwinds?

The saboteur
You work your way through shafts and crawlspaces until you find an oil-reeking chamber of whirling cogs and thundering pistons. You and your companions set to work with hammers and spanners.
The machinery grinds and stutters. A huge cog slips out of alignment, and a dozen others stop spinning. You scurry back to your engine in time to see – just for a moment – the light of the Clockwork Sun flicker. For that instant, Albion is dark as pitch. You can't even see your hand in front of your face. Will this be enough to satisfy the Whisperwinds?

Perform a major act of sabotage
Take a crate of explosives, the least patriotic members of your crew, and the determination to do what must be done.

Failed event | Advanced alteration value probably needs examination.

Four minutes
Your squad descends through oily crawlspaces into the Sun. You lose one of them when a rusted gear jerks to life, dragging her into the machinery. You lose a second to the killing light that leaks through a crack in the tunnel.
You lose the other two when setting the explosives. You were keeping watch, and didn't see what happened. But the detonation swallowed them and the bank of pistons they were sabotaging. You barely escaped the flames. What did their lives buy? Four minutes. Four minutes before secondary machinery rumbled to live and rekindled the fires. Four minutes when no sun shone on Albion.

Like a modern-day Guy Fawkes
Dividing the explosives between you, you descend through rickety shafts into the thundering, turning innards of the Clockwork Sun. A gantry stretches under an axis discoloured by rust. Carefully, you fix the explosives to it, set their fuse, and flee.
You are back on your engine when the explosion roars. There is a hellish grinding of gears, and the sun goes black. It lasts for four midnight minutes. By then, secondary machines have stuttered to life, and the engineers made a vital repair. But for four long minutes, no sun shone in Albion.
