The Devourer of Distance is considered a Module item Engine in Sunless Skies.

It is, unquestionably, alive. Though its basic running speed isn't as high as the Tisiphone's, once the Devourer reaches full steam nothing in the skies can outrun it. But be warned: once it has started, it doesn't want to stop. Leave plenty of room to slow down.

Guide

The Devourer of Distance is obtained through a storylet, not simply purchased like the other engines. You will need the following resources to obtain the engine:

• A Tisiphone Engine
• Either a Selection of Immaculate Souls or 3 Affiliation: Academe
• 7 Cask of Navaratine Gemstones
• A Searing Enigma
• The soul of a devourer (obtained during the storylet).

Equip a Tisiphone engine to your locomotive and visit Pan. There will be a new storylet where a man admires your engine and mentions an engineer at The Wreck of the Berrenger. He gives you a letter.

Visit the Wreck of the Berrenger and either bribe the goat demon with a Selection of Immaculate Souls or use your Affiliation: Academe (minimum: 3) to continue. The engineer will ask for 7 Cask of Navaratine Gemstones, A Searing Enigma, and the soul of a Devourer. To obtain a soul of a Devourer you can take aboard a devil that will be able to extract one from a defeated Devourer. You can supply these in any order. After supplying them all the engineer will give you the engine. You will keep your Tisiphone Engine.
