A duel in the dark
Isery's confident smile falters. They rally magnificently.

Once the blindfold is on, you listen carefully. It doesn't matter. Isery steps as silently as a cat, and their boot catches you just below the knee. As you topple, their uppercut rises to meet you, almost removing your skull.

You wake up a few minutes later to the cheers of the crowd. Isery has been declared the Tournament's victor. You sit alone outside the ring, abandoned and forgotten.

A duel in the dark
Isery's confident smile falters. They rally magnificently.

Once the blindfold is on, you listen carefully. You wait. You taste the air-currents as they stir.

You strike. Isery whirls away, abandoning their assault, but you follow, jabbing blindly and viciously until they cry for surrender. You lift your blindfold.

Defeated, Isery drops to one knee and offers you their sword.

"The best knight won," they say. "If you ever need me to wield a blade on your behalf, just ask."

A duel of blades
No reason to think too imaginatively. You know what you're good at.
    • Iron icon Iron challenge (92 for 100%)

Failed event

Game note: You have failed the quest for the Martyr-King's Cup. You can choose another Ambition at London, New Winchester, Pan, or Sky Barnet.

Game note: If you fail this challenge, you will fail the Ambition.

A duel of blades
Isery's confident smile does not falter.

When the bell is rung, they hit you like an avalanche, interspersing punches and swings of their sword. The punches seem to hit you in one reality; the sword-swipes strike your armour from the other. It's a pincer attack from two realms at once, and it's impossible to defend against. You collapse.

You wake up a few minutes later to the cheers of the crowd. Isery has been declared the Tournament's victor. You sit alone outside the ring, abandoned and forgotten.

A duel of blades
Isery's confident smile does not falter. When the bell is rung, they hit you like an avalanche, interspersing punches and swings of their sword. The punches hit you in one reality; the sword-swipes strike from the other.

You react almost instantly, parrying and striking back in two realities at once. Isery falls back, surprised at your tenacity. It takes a few more fierce minutes, but when they stumble, you know you have won.

Defeated, they drop to one knee and offer you their sword.

"The best knight won," they say. "If you ever need me to wield a blade on your behalf, just ask."

A duel of forbidden knowledge
Who knows the most about the dark things that move behind the sky?
A duel of forbidden knowledge
Isery's confident smile falters. They rally magnificently.

The Queen sets you riddles of increasing complexity. Isery is no mere bruiser – she answers several with aplomb. But the questions grow increasingly esoteric, touching on the opinions and strategies of stars. You answer as best you can, while Isery grows increasingly baffled. In the end, you are declared victorious.

Defeated, Isery drops to one knee and offers you their sword.

"The best knight won," they say. "If you ever need me to wield a blade on your behalf, just ask."

Game note: You have won the Grand Tournament.

Defer the duel
You promise to return when you have adequately prepared. Isery looks outraged, but the Queen accepts your postponement.

Game note: You will be able to return to duel Isery when you are ready.
