The Final Decision is a Sunless Skies Story Event.

Story description[]

"He must have a sky burial. It's not traditional, but I think it would appeal to Altan's sense of poetry."

"I need to leave him somewhere in the High Wilderness. But where?"

Trigger conditions[]

Area: The Sky
Frequency: Always (100%)

Interactions[]

Actions Requirements Effects Notes
Suggest the Most Serene Mausoleum
It rests by a dead sun. Only those in high favor with Her Renewed Majesty are permitted burial there. It is an exalted place.
Revulsion
"No! Never." He collects himself. "I'm sorry. But abandoning him alongside your stuffy British nobles? He was an Empyreal. The Mausoleum would be worse than where we found him."
Suggest a Weft of Unravelled Time
He'd be casting Altan into the tumultuous throes of frenzied time. And it would be tremendously dangerous to get there. That's and adventure
Open-jawed Delight
"That is it. Yes!" The Navigator moves to embrace you; he remembers himself and offers a handshake. "That's perfect: a last journey to an uncertain destination. If he'd known this could be his last resting place, he would have begged me to arrange it."
  • The Navigator's Promise = 1600 [The Fortunate Navigator wishes to give their friend a sky burial in a Weft of Unravelling Time, found in Albion]

Suggest the Mother of Mountains
He could be taken to the very peak. He'd be surrounded by only the winds and the open sky. Rest, after his adventures.
A resting place
The Fortunate Navigator is quiet for some moments. Then, "Altan often stepped aside to make room for others. He'd appreciate solitude."

The Navigator starts to smile. "And the Reach isn't dark — at least, not like Eleutheria — so he won't be lying in constant night. It'll be bright, and it'll be just him and the wind."

"Please. Can we take him to Lustrum?"
  • The Navigator's Promise = 1700 [The Fortunate Navigator wishes to give their friend a sky burial on the Mother of Mountains, at Lustrum]
Suggest the Avid Horizon
It is an eery, beautiful location. A thing of wonder, a liminal place, caught between the past and the future.
A Considered Rejection
"I remember when we first came through. He and I were standing by the window of our cabin, holding hands, pretending we weren't terrified.

You are right - it has a certain... awe to it."

He Shakes his head. "But it's too British, I'm afraid. There's nothing of the Empyrean there at all, now. And too much of your bl__dy Queen."
Suggest Titania
It is the most beautiful part of the Reach, itself a place of new beginnings and lifelong adventure. That should surely suit him.
Dismissive
"Not Titania. I have to admit, I find it an awful place. It's not even the bees, but the people. They've fought their way through the Reach and settled down to... what? Bicker about what London institution they should recreate." He snorts. "They are romantic, not epic. My friend would have found them tiring."
