Actions Requirements Effects Notes
Spare Dilly
How can you be sure it was the creature? And besides, it was only a fingertip.
Tip of the iceberg
The mob respects your authority and disbands, although without grace. From now on, they'll be sleeping with gloves on. Losing a finger or two to frostbite is not uncommon in the blistering cold of the High Wilderness, but this finger wasn't lost. It was taken.

Game note: This will be bad for morale.

Spare Dilly
As long as everyone's toes end up back where they started, what's the problem?
Unsatisfactory outcome
Your crew is not easily placated, even when you point out that no permanent damage has been done. The stoker thrusts the creature to a comrade and stamps away in disgust. Her gait is awkward, as if she is wearing uncomfortable shoes. The others go back to work, still agitated and wondering what the next indignity will be.
Spare Dilly again
Dilly is mischievous, yes, but that's no reason to condemn the poor creature to the sky. She perhaps means well.
Suppressed fury
You exhort the crew to show compassion. In the High Wilderness it's likely you'll all need someone's mercy someday. This is time to show mercy of your own. Surely they wouldn't kill a young creature over something as trivial as a misplaced ring? "Finger!" the stoker corrects, irritably. They return to work, grumbling. "What's next?" one mutters. "An arm? A leg?"
Spare Dilly once and for all
Enough! She may be a monster, but she is your monster. Now and for ever!
Lovely Dilly
You reassign the man to light duties for now. Sooner or later, Dilly will put all his knuckles back where they're meant to be.

You can't get rid of her. Just look at her! Her sad, wet eyes. Her many-jointed legs, reaching out to you. Her captor hands her over, and Dilly sniffs at your fingers curiously. She is calm now, a far cry from the skittish thing you first encountered in the hold.

She certainly livens up the long, cold days in the sky, doesn't she? Why, you're never sure where your toes will end up next!

Game note: Dilly is now suitable to act as your locomotive's mascot.

Jettison Dilly
Your crew will thank you.
Returned to the unknown
The creature is not well-loved. People are attached to their fingers. Or at least they were. A stoker wrestles Dilly into a sack, takes it to the external hatch, and flings it into the sky. The sack slowly spins away, the creature's many legs unfolding from it and kicking uselessly. Soon it is only speck in the distance.
