Follow the guide to the top of the Tears
A hooded woman, half concealed in the spray, waits by the waterfall. "You are here for the Regent's lakes?" She has a thick, London accent.

Agile as a goat and as difficult to catch
The woman has climbed the route many times; she is surefooted, oblivious to the dizzying roar of the waters plunging down beside you. You lose sight of her behind a curtain of spray, and the water drowns out your cry for her to slow.
The ground is too wet for you to safely cross. She must know every handhold and foothold; without her experience, it's folly to continue.

Upwards without pause
The woman leaps from ledge to foothold. She is surefooted, apparently oblivious to the thundering roar of the waterfalls. It is treacherous work to keep up with her.
When you finally reach the top, you help each other over the edge. Only now can you see that she is crying. She has wept, endlessly, for years. The tears run down grooves in her cheeks that have been worn there by the constant weeping. She gestures towards the water. "Welcome. May the Regent's lakes nourish you."

Immerse yourself in the hot lake
The warmth is sure to ease your muscles.

Failed event | |
Peace in noise
The water is hot as a freshly drawn bath; you must ease yourself in slowly. You settle on a flat rock, rest your head against the bank while knots in your neck dissolve. The constant drum of the rushing waters drowns out even your thoughts.
All you can do is paddle gently, and look through the steam, out at the Reach – emerald green, cathedralled with branches soaring like buttresses. In this moment, there is only beauty: savage, exquisite. And you needn't worry about the descent – it'll be easier than the way up.

The profoundest melancholy
The water is hot as a freshly drawn bath; the constant drum of the rushing waters drowns out even your thoughts. You should be relaxed. You should be considering the magnificence of the Reach – emerald green, cathedralled with branches soaring like buttresses.
But how can you? You are alone. The Reach's glory has fallen into darkness, and shall not rise again. What can be left? With effort, you climb from the water to lie on the bank, sobbing.

|
Sanctuary, of a sort | |
Drink from the cascading waters
The route to the top is perilous. You can still benefit from the lakes, without undue risk.
|
Not entirely unpleasant
The water is brackish and lukewarm. It is not refreshing. But, if you concentrate, it could almost be taken for the absent-minded residue of a particularly weak tea.

Leave
The falling waters are a continual thunder. Too long here, and your crew will demand extra pay to compensate for the headaches.
|
Away
Your engine's door slams shut, and the thunder of the waterfalls diminishes.
