The Second Course Arrives is a Sunless Skies Story Event.
Story description[]
The Supercilious Bursar passes the dish of buttered potatoes with an oily smile. The conversation continues, lubricated by Herculean quantities of port. Buttered potatoes, roast squirmings, and sauteed Hybrean mushrooms are devoured in between rhetorical thrusts.

Recover the Obviously Delicious Rabbit
Is that your Obviously Delicious Rabbit being carried in? Yes. Yes, it is.
|
The unflappability of astronomers
No one comments on the Obviously Delicious Rabbit perched tidily atop the mountain of flavoured starch, or on the way it scratches at an ear, causing fur to plume through the air. You reach out a hand and pause halfway, expecting objections, but no one even blinks.
You collect the Obviously Delicious Rabbit. Hopefully, this won't happen again.

Talk to the Lecturer in Imperial Affairs
She is rationing her port with water, and visibly holding her tongue.
|
|
The government's woman
The Lecturer keeps her voice low, and produces a pen from her iron bun. She scribbles on her napkin as you explain your recent history.
"They resent me here, you understand. I was a direct appointment by Her Majesty's Government. They dislike being reminded who holds the purse strings." The second course ends with the Lecturer in Imperial Affairs telling a rather ribald joke, and a hearty toast to the continued health of all present.

Talk to the Chair for the Effulgent Sciences
Her eyes are wild. She has savaged the potatoes. Her conversation rambles, but her language is poetry.
|
|
A scattering of discourse
She interrupts you repeatedly to make this point or that. At first, these feel like random interjections, but, by the end, she is refuting points you made at the start of the course and anticipating your jokes with wild-eyed delight.
"I have always been in love with the Heavens," is all the biography you get from her, however. The second course ends with the Lecturer in Imperial Affairs telling a rather ribald joke, and a hearty toast to the continued health of all present.

Talk to the Senatorial Professor
He affords sly smiles from under his blindfold, between slurpings of mushroom. He appears to enjoy playing the Devil's advocate.
|
|
The devil's rhetoric
He grins broadly as you find yourself arguing for the abolition of astronomy as a charlatan's art.
You must have done adequately, however, for he toasts you once you finish, before he resumes feeding his large pet spider beneath the table. The second course ends with the Lecturer in Imperial Affairs telling a rather ribald joke, and a hearty toast to the continued health of all present.
